Christina "Kristy" Polk, APRN, PMHNP, LCSW
Kristy is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes that good mental health care starts with feeling heard and understood. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and centered on each person as a whole, not simply their symptoms or diagnosis.
Before becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner, Kristy spent more than 15 years working as a clinical social worker and therapist. This experience continues to shape her approach to psychiatric care, including taking time to understand what is happening in each person's life and the many factors that can affect emotional well-being.
Kristy earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University and provides medication management for adults. Her clinical interests include anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, ADHD, OCD, and other common mental health concerns. She wants clients to feel comfortable asking questions, expressing concerns, and taking a more active role in their care. Kristy believes treatment works best as a partnership and strives to help clients feel respected, supported, and involved in decisions about their treatment.
Outside of work, Kristy enjoys traveling and exploring new places, taking photographs and learning more about photography, reading fiction, watching comedies, and spending time with her dog, Benji.
Kristy does not treat clients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders, psychosis, or dissociative identity disorder.
